Hello, and welcome to my new webpage. Future topics are likely to include more about waste in the office. My talk this month at the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement was titled “Office Cost Sinkholes” revealed the current dollar cost of office waste in logical categories: meetings, emails, distractions, searching for information. These categories are not the same as the factory based categories from the Toyota Production System.
Over the next year, I will be writing about cost of quality in health care. We have all heard the debates in the US about funding and insurance; no one is talking about efficiency. This is surprising, given the unsustainable growth in health care costs. I believe the tools of quality will help solve this crisis in the US on health care, but only if they are designed for the health care work environment.
We have rebuilt the website to better suit mobile devices. I will be changing the posts more frequently, as often as once a week, so there will be more to think about.
Thank you and stay tuned!
